phone cameras sigh - the shoulders aren't as narrow and the top of the head isn't as big as this photo makes it seem. i swear.

sketch for a project i may eventually get around to, illustrations based on a fairytale about a fox that takes off its skin and becomes a woman &tragedy

need to work on transposing fox qualities onto a human face a bit more

also, my what a difference proper tools and a few weeks of practice make:

hey dont say that. any pen will work wonders if you just hammer down its intricacies. shit, you can make photo realistic drawings with bic pens.
faber castell microns are  tho.
does that fox myth have any connections with japanese mythology? i know theyre all about foxes taking on human shape

not as far as i know, it's a european myth called the housekeeper.the fox goes into a woodsman's hut one day while he's out, takes off it's skin and becomes a woman, and starts tidying up the hut (obviously...) and the woodsman comes home and decides it's quite nice and they get married and then he becomes obsessed and repulsed by her foxy smell and kicks her out.

you can get much finer lines with bic pens (although you still have to be careful of the ink blobs), sharpie pens are almost impossible to do delicate detail with. i did that sketch with a .005 micron and i still almost wish it had been a finer tip.

lulz i like the sounds of that

i feel ya there, microns dont bleed too much which is nice. im usually doin simple stuff with sharpie pens, definitely difficult to get down and dirty on what youre workin with. wanna say .008 is the smallest you can get. keep messin around with those line values, you got a good start up there. were you drawin those busts out of your head or did you have a model/picture/reference?
