no. by comparing dear hunter to zappa you are comparing coheed and cambria to zappa by association.

not at all. coheed is nothing like the dear hunter. that would be like saying the mars volta are on the level of wolfmother.

and i was saying that the "arrangements" are on par with zappas. not necessarily compositionaly on par with him.

seriously instead of trolling just give this band another listen. ill even upload for you if you want.

but like i said you are most likely just concerned about how much indie cred you get for listening to deerhunter. also +3 indie cred points for the pixies reference.

i could give a fuck less about arrangements. if the compositions are shit (which they are) the arrangements can be carried out by an orchestra of angels for all i give a fuck. i've payed my dues and i know what i'm talking about concerning this shithole band. you can bitch about your self-righteous "indie cred" all you want but the fact of the matter is that this melodramatic rock opera bullshit sucks.

listening an album once in a friend's car isn't good enough. if you havent heard act II at all then you have no argument.

eh, i'm too tired to troll anymore. thanks guys, i had a good one. but really, i hate this fucking band and i think listening to "act one" is sufficient data, i don't give a fuck about any more acts. but that's cool if you guys think he's the next frank zappa or whatever. have fun with it.

1. hes not the next frank zappa, no one is, or even close to it.
2. you really should get over yourself and give it another listen.

with that said lets talk about how awesome the elton john cover is.

just downloaded off of demonoid some songs iguess that were on a website or something. they are really good. straight up orchestral pieces, very nice.

anyone know if casey actually uses an orchestra to perform these. or if he does it digitally. i have a hard time telling a lot of the time with him. i know the demos were all electronic, and some parts of act 1 and 2 sound synthesized, but some parts really don't at all. and these songs i downloaded sound pretty legit.

edit: so i couldnt figure out for a fact if all this stuff was done by an actual orchestra or not, but im starting to doubt, not that i care, i actually think its cool he was able to get sounds this good without one.

also i found out act 1 and 2 were pretty much recorded in a bedroom and basement with pretty much the same equipment i use, which is very low budget. i find this incredible as i find the quality and production of these albums to be very tasteful. i think this band ist starting to become my fav.

edit2: all the strings were real on act 2

yea here is a video of a bunch of the strings being recorded.

i still am so impressed this WHOLE record was recorded on a mini mac with protool LE and a few 100 dollar mics with a 300 dollar sound card, using the built in pre amps, in a bedroom and a basement... how good this record is a true testament to how fucking godly casey is at producing. i mean its an easy thing to get nice equipment to sound nice, but to get shitty equipment to sound amazing is a real challenge.

In Cauda Venenum (The Venom is in the Tail) ~ 5:29

We're biting our tongues; biding our time
An apparition awoken with an urge to
own and occupy
"Who ever said this was easy?"
A majesty's massacre floods
the fields of red
blood to your body naturally
rushes the blood to your head

And now with hands aligned
these arms move tonight
and we cry "we can not allow this,
This is terrible"
With ideals we're idle as they
lust for more.
oh if we settle the score.
We've never been so
excited to see you before.

In the cradle we are helpless
but on our feet we are fatal
how we evolve and grow into
twisted beasts with a desire for disorder
OH what a terrible game we play;
replacing the pawn for a body.
And the players? Politicians
who say what they need to say

Now with hands aligned
Arms move tonight
here with abrasive eyes
pain in plain sight
and we cry "we can not allow this,
This is terrible."
With ideals we're idle as they
lust for more.
But oh if we settle the score.
We've never been so excited to see you be...

Oh when I think about your eyes
Oh when I think about your smile
Oh when I dream about your eyes/lies

travel all this way just to find love.

new song rules my face. i love the rhythms that B3 is throwin around. the percussion in this song is groovy too. i also get a bit of a King Crimson vibe from the horn section. it also reminds me of ouroborus at times. the outro section is really cool.
