im looking at this

http://www.guitarcen...890-i1470752.gc

ive seen reviews and everything and it looks fantastic. what i'm wondering is: can i plug it and use it in pro tools? and when i do how do i get diff sounds out of it? do i need third party software to get different patches and whatnot?

i also have reason adapted for PT. i just have no clue how this all works and i want to learn and see if it's possible to do what i want before i actually go out and buy it

ive fiddled with reason before and i figured it could work together idk?

Yep you can, you plug it in via USB, and it records midi notes/values for you. You will need VSTs/AUs to change these notes into sounds. Reason is a good one for this, dead easy to use. Initially it may take some setting up to get it set up how you want it but only a few clicks of a mouse in the settings/preferences boxes.

plug in midi

play midi

Yeah its not really an instrument, more so like a remote control for your ps3. Just gives it the feel and layout of a keyboard vs the cumbersome feel of your typing keyboard.

the thing is this thing doesn't have midi in/out plugs

its a single usb that plugs into the computer.

and when i go to audio under preferences it says no sound for the audio card driver
