Hey guys, what have you been cooking?

This week I planned our meals, trying to avoid pasta, rice and bread. I've really been enjoying filling up on vegies and protein - leaves you feeling so much better!
Last night I made a super delicious middle eastern style roast chicken with roasted red capsium, sweet potato, parsnip and red onion. There was a lot of preparation involved - I made my own harissa and chermoula. Omg, it was good

I also made a thai chicken salad, and the dressing was so good - it was made up of lime juice, fish sauce, peanut oil, brown sugar and chilli. The man made up this really delicious sweet soy marinade for the chicken, and the acutal salad was so crunchy and fresh, with lots of mint, coriander and bean shoots.

just made these for dinner and dessert today:

hasselback potatoes (aka hasselhoff potatoes) baked with thin slices of garlic in between the slits in the potatoes, top with butter and olive oil (recipe called for both, idk it's tasty so I can't complain), salt & pepper. Mixed some garlic powder, salt, pepper, and freshly chopped parsley into sour cream.

pumpkin & cream cheese pie with maple whipped cream on top (store bought graham cracker crust for EZ-ness factor)

Went to the grocery store and spotted some noteworthy items in the clearance section: two-pound bags of arborio rice for four bucks, and one-quart cartons of fish stock for a buck fifty. Fucking steals. The yield on a pound of arborio rice and a couple quarts of stock is like ten servings. TALK ABOUT FRUGAL!!! I'll be eating risotto at ramen prices.

it smelled stronger than usual, a sweet smell. i'm baking it for 20 min at 425 anyway then 350 until the whole place smells like pie. i'm thinking it will be fine.

if anything it will taste a bit yogurty. i've eaten pumpkin pie made with plain greek yogurt and i liked it. not my idea but it wasn't bad.
