Baking counts right? I have been baking lately (cakes, nanaimo bars, bread). I got this recipe for no-knead bread here: http://www.nytimes.c...ng/081mrex.html
it is ridiculously easy to make and it tastes pretty yummy too (my favorite part is that it has a chewy/crunchy crust but is soft in the middle)

baking absolutely counts

that bread looks so great! I'll have to try it. Call me crazy though, but I find kneading to be one of the best parts about making bread. So therapeutic.

i love it when the ingredients are all so good that they can shine in a really simple preparation

green onion bulbs, butter, rosemary, thyme & salt

Posted Image

chicken-of-the-woods, which I never see for sale and this is two pounds for only $10, bought off a drifter who was passing through town

Posted Image

these things absorb butter/oil about like eggplant, but don't get gross like eggplant when they do, so I had to keep adding butter because the pan would start to get dry, so I got too busy stirring fungi and pasta and drinking beer to take any more pictures

but damn it was yummy

I just looked at the first picture and drooled imagining the aroma.

I have never heard of that fungi! How would you describe the taste?

kind of chickeny, to be honest. I can always taste the wood in them, kind of like shiitakes, but there is none of that mushroomy earthiness at all. They grow around here; I just need to go find some. Here's what they look like:

surprisingly enough, i love cooking, but i hate doing that only for myself :/

lol my whole life is cooking for myself. I think I'm getting pretty damn good at it but I don't really like to fee other people because I have no confidence. Also because I tend to buy pretty expensive stuff (maybe that's why my food tastes good) and I can't afford to feed my expensive things to other people. I really live it up but it's kind of masturbatory since it's only for me. Whatever, though. I'm looking out for #1.

Find the real thread you dumb bitch.

I tried looking for it but I don't remember what it was called. I searched 'cooking', 'food' and 'recipe'. Nothing. You find it.

The cooking thread was merged with the What are you eating thread because they were essentially the same thing. I didn't do it, though. Mark did it. You may recall this one day where Mark posted what he was eating in the what are you eating thread and the cooking thread and the lj thread all at the same time in order to play a joke on all of us! What a jokester. He's always making fun of us, that guy.

They're totally different threads. I don't give a shit if you're eating a packet of cheetos right now, all I want to hear about is what you cooked and how, and share recipes and tips.

I made a recipe thread, though to be fair to you it's titled "Recipecipe Threread" which may have made it slightly tricky to find

it's a really good recipe which uses pancetta, sundried tomatoes, rosemary and fresh basil as well as all the obvious ingredients.
