everyone should get mixtape messiah 4 by cham, it's better than most LP's that came out in 08.
Man, I'll admit I'm surprised. The only Chamillionaire track is that Ridin' Dirty single which I thought was whack as fuck, so I figured his catalog would be weak. But seriously, his verse on the Chamillie ish is ridiculously awesome. I'm psyched. The second time I listened to it I wnt to Waffles to find the mixtape, and I'm downloading it right now.

but really, i don't care to hear any more about him. chamillionaire is a fucking badass. ultimate victory was a masterpiece of an album, and mixtape messiah 1-4 are all great, 3 being my favorite. his hooks are unparalleled in hip hop today.

i guess i'm accustomed to the general understanding that, in a place like mumblings, most statements regarding quality of music that are presented as objective are accepted as one person's opinion, and the presentation of objectivity is meant to be taken with a proverbial grain of salt.Yes and yes. LOL DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU TALKIN TO
My point was more that any statement like "____ is unparalleled in rap today" is going to be silly, not to diss on Chamillionaire at all. There are too many great rappers. Rap is in amazing shape.
edit: and actually, no. i don't know who i'm talking to.

haha. i never said he was the best rapper alive. i don't think he is. i said his hooks are the best in rap at the moment. a statement which can reasonably be interpreted as something like, "in my opinion, chamillionaire's hooks are the best in current rap."If you really think Chamillionaire is the best rapper alive, and are comfortable saying he is better than any rapper I can name, well let's just agree to disagree, Xolotl. Opinions are one thing but there's being unreasonably idolatrous, too.

There is never any need to single out particular rappers and say they shit all over the game.
"Current rap" consists of a huge number of highly talented musicians. Nobody (worth listening to) denies that there are a bunch of great new releases every year. I don't mind at all if Chamillionaire is a personal favorite of yours, but I must protest this sad-state-of-current-rap nonsense. There is no top rapper in any respect.

i'm uncertain how we got to this point. how is stating one's opinion silly? you're putting words in my mouth when you say the bolded part.I thought you would reply along those lines. It really doesn't matter. You can substitute "hooks" or "beats" or "flow" or whatever, and it's still a silly statement.
