What do you suggest for this?
Ableton is good for somethings like making really weird electronic songs, but I don't really like the way it handles real instruments.
PC = Cubase is your pretty standard DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and will get the job done. Also you'll learn a lot if your a beginner as its relatively easy to use.
Mac = Has to be Logic, its easy to use, thousands of onboard instruments and effects and you wont need anything else.

However, it isn't the program.. its the plug-ins that matter:
livecut, scrubby, tapestop, amplitube, loopyllama, geometer, juicy77, etc. (go to kvraudio.com)
Its a really good VST host, so you can easily import a beat, set the tempo, do some quick beatslicing, and then add additional tracks and instruments on top of it.

When I plug in my stuff, I cant get it to make any noise, it registers the midi input, but no noise, then on the controller, I have to switch it to midi channel 16 to get noise. Then it will make noise, but it is really inconsistent, sometimes it makes noise and sometimes it doesnt, and the same key on the keyboard, will make a noise in a different octave sometimes, and on top of that, it doesn't register the release of the keys, so when I press one, it just keeps making the noise, even if I let go of the key. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it. I have been using a typing keyboard as my midi controller for the longest time with no problems, but now that I actually want to make my life easier, it is making it hell.
Oh, and the problem is not switching the port to MME, like the problem a lot of people have had, I already did that.

How do I fade in/out tracks on ableton
There should be a drop down menu next to each track on the bottom to control the Volume Level. And then use the drag and drop the dot technique to fade in/out to your liking.
And for real instruments, me and my friend use Reaper
