David Bowie is one of the most consistently amazing musicians ever. His earlier records like Ziggy Stardust, Space Oddity, and Hunky Dory are all fantastic, but the Berlin trilogy (especially Low and Heroes) are my favorites. Scary Monsters is the last great album by him in my opinion (and one of my favorite albums of all time), but much of what he has released since then is still quite good.

I really like Aladdin Sane, Labyrinth Soundtrack and Station To Station.
I haven't heard much of his stuff post-Let's Dance.
Got the Ziggy Stardust, Glass Spider and Best Of Bowie DVDs, though.

Is the Live Santa Monica '72 album worth getting?

I didn't see him last time he came to Australia. I wasn't much of a fan back then... but now I think of him as some God-like figure. Hope he comes back someday.

He brought Iggy Pop into the spotlight too - that's pure win. The Stooges weren't known all that well until Bowie came along and helped Iggy on his way. Ramones did though. Those guys are cool.

Been mostly listening to Scary Monsters, Low and Outside lately. Outside is a bizarre album.

Outside is very strange, and it's nowhere near the caliber of his earlier output, but I think it is a pretty solid album. Kinda dated at this point, but Brian Eno really helped come up with some crazy stuff on that one.

Eno worked on the berlin trilogy (Low, "Heroes", Lodger) and Outside.

There are a couple of songs I really love on that album, but all in all I found it disappointing. I still like it though.

You should wiki it, he's a great man. He's worked with Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Talking Heads, and....... Coldplay.
