Black Star is the only Talib I've heard, and I haven't heard much else Mos Def but it is definitely a dope album.

But I still say, (and have always said, even before my hip-hop obsession) that The Roots' Do You Want More owns ALL.
I'm also alllll over Guru's Jazzmatazz at the moment.
Also, Common's Electric Circus is pretty awesome.

"my presence felt, my name is Kweli from the Eternal Reflection, people thinkin' MC is short hand for misconception."

so many quoteable lines. thanks to Bambii for mentioning this album. you've allowed me to fall in love with it all over again.

moreso than, say, digable planets?

i wouldn't call that the most relaxing rap album, but it's an amazing album. probably my favorite roots lp.

I think rap albums should be shorter.

With 70 minutes, there HAS to be disappointing material.

Example: Madvillainy without Bistro, Shadows of Tomorrow, etc would have been perfect. It's 46 minutes, which is why apart from a couple of tracks, it's very good the whole way through.

i think every second of Madvillainy is good. "Bistro" is pretty relaxing and fits in well with the rest of the album.

as far as the other albums that have been recently mentioned, Things Fall Apart and Be are two incredible albums. probably my favorites from The Roots and Common.
